Meet Travis
In 2019, Travis suffered a spinal cord injury after breaking his C-5 in a swimming accident. The injury left him a quadriplegic with very limited core strength, limited mobility in his arms, and no grasp within his hands.
Travis relied on a manual wheelchair with power assist wheels to maintain his independence—enabling him to earn his degree, continue working, and serve his community. When his power assist wheels stopped functioning correctly, insurance wouldn't cover replacements, leaving him unable to navigate independently or enter his car.
A Victory Scholarship provided Travis with the Alber Emotion M25 power assist wheels he needed to reclaim his independence and continue his mentorship program, "Roll Mentor," with local hospitals in southwest Florida.
"Your donation gave me the power assist wheels that allow me to continue being independent in the community, working throughout my employment, providing mentorship through my 'Roll Mentor' program, and the ability to travel. It allows me to feel like a new person again having more independence and not relying on others."
