Meet Dominick

At just three years old, Dominick was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy. This condition primarily causes muscle weakness, requiring him to wear AFOs and use a wheelchair for longer distances.

Despite these challenges, basketball has always been Dominick's passion. Two years ago, he discovered wheelchair basketball, opening up a world of sports that had previously been inaccessible to him.

Wheelchair basketball quickly became a game-changer for Dominick, bringing him joy, building his confidence, and fostering friendships with teammates who share similar experiences.

However, Dominick faced a significant obstacle – he was using a basketball wheelchair that was much too large for him, making it difficult to compete effectively.

With a Victory Scholarship, Dominick has received a new basketball wheelchair specifically fitted to his needs.

The impact of this scholarship extends far beyond the basketball court. It has provided Dominick with a stronger sense of belonging and community, allowing him to connect with others who share his passion.

“Your donation gave me the opportunity to participate in wheelchair basketball, an adaptive sport that I love!”
