In 2021, Peggy woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. On her way, she fell and struck her forehead, which jammed her neck backwards and resulted in a spinal cord injury. Once she regained consciousness, she was able to call out for help and was transported to the hospital, where she was told she was paralyzed from the neck down.
Despite what she was told, Peggy continues to defy the odds and is making progress in her recovery journey. Her family has worked tirelessly to provide Peggy with the resources and support she needs to continue making progress. They found out about the Riftron Tram, which would allow Peggy to extend the work she is doing at training sessions to her home as well. Unfortunately, this item was not covered by insurance.
Thanks to our donors & sponsors, VVF was able to provide Peggy with a Victory Scholarship for this piece of mobility equipment. Having this item in her home has helped daily with safe sit-to-stand transfers, gait training and strengthening her muscles to build stamina.
“Your generous donation means I am one step closer to an independent lifestyle.”
