In December 2020, Drew was at work when a fight broke out between two of his coworkers. Drew stepped in try and break up the fight. One of the people had a gun and Drew ended up being shot. He suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of the blast impact to his trachea and right lung.
In the initial months following his injury, Drew was making progress in his recovery. Since then, Drew and his family have relocated in order to be closer to the best possible resources and support. A Victory Scholarship has allowed Drew to continue his activity based training sessions at Barwis Neurological Reengineering.
In Drew’s words “This Victory Scholarship means the world to me. It means I can continue to have sessions with innovative physical therapists and continue to make progress. This scholarship is more than a financial award. The support and encouragement breathed life into me. Thank you isn't enough.”
