Cody is a 19-year-old living with Mitochondrial Disease. Cody faces daily challenges that many of us can hardly imagine. This rare genetic disorder affects the energy production in his cells, leading to frequent and unpredictable seizures that require immediate attention.
Cody's mother, Sarah, has been his unwavering pillar of strength and support. She has dedicated her life to ensuring that Cody receives the best care possible. However, the unpredictability of his seizures makes it crucial for Sarah to reach Cody quickly, no matter where they are. The need for a specialized system in their car became apparent — a system that would allow Sarah to safely and quickly reach Cody during a seizure, ensuring his safety.
Unfortunately, this specialized car system came with a high price tag, one that was not covered by insurance.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, VVF was able to provide Sarah and Cody a Victory Scholarship to receive the wheelchair docking system needed to keep Cody safe.
“I can finally keep my son safe!!! This wheelchair docking system will allow me to whisk Cody out of the van with the push of one button, so I can attend to his seizures immediately. This gift could literally save his life!”
