“The Victory Scholarship means so much -- we have struggled to find a way to get Avalon the adaptive equipment she needs, and now we have the opportunity to get outside easily as a family! We cannot wait to go on adventures together!”
When Avalon was a month old, her doctor started to notice some delays in meeting typical milestones. This started Avalon’s family on a path of many appointments with specialists & neurologists, especially when she started having seizures at 14 months old. It was during an in-patient stay that genetic testing revealed that Avalon has FOXG1 syndrome, which is a rare neurodevelopmental disability.
Today, Avalon is 6 and enjoys spending time with her family outdoors. But as she has gotten older and continues to grow, she requires more adaptive support in order to safely participate in family activities. Avalon was severely limited in where she could go because she did not have the right equipment.
With the support of our donors and sponsors, VVF was so honored to be able to provide Avalon and her family with a Victory Scholarship for an adaptive stroller last month.
“Your donation gave Avalon an adaptive stroller with the proper supports she needs to sit safely and feel secure. She can quickly and easily go from indoors to outdoors with a stroller that is lightweight and easy to set up and break down. Avalon can now access her world- this has opened up so many opportunities for us as a family!”
